StFX Athletics welcomes Josh Crouse as new strength & conditioning coach

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX Manager of Athletics & Communications Krista McKenna is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Crouse as their new Strength & Conditioning Coach.

"We are very excited to welcome Josh to the StFX Athletics team. He has a proven track record, and his passion and commitment to helping varsity athletes achieve their full potential is exactly what we were looking for. He will be an important asset in growing not only the StFX Athletics strength & conditioning program, but assisting those in the local community as well."

A native of Bridgewater, N.S., Crouse has spent the last three years as the lead strength & conditioning coach at Acadia University where he has helped build and shape that program from a small space with a few motivated student-athletes, to a nop-notch strength & conditioning program in a recently renovated facility with hundreds of committed athletes. During his time at Acadia he has worked with amateur, U SPORTS, professional and Olympic athletes in programming and delivering training and testing to male and female athletes from a multitude of sports.

A former volleyball varsity athlete at UNB and Bachelor of Kinesiology graduate of Acadia, Crouse has extensive experience in sport performance preparation, weight room organization and management, and was responsible for overseeing a team of over 40 strength & conditioning interns. The lead strength & conditioning coach for Acadia Performance Training (APT), Crouse worked directly with Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic athletes, along with varsity athletes and community athletes of all ages. At APT, Crouse served as an exercise physiologist providing clients with physical assessments, nutrition & lifestyle counselling, and personal training and programming - services he hopes to grow at StFX.

Crouse is looking forward to the new role, commenting "I am extremely honoured and humbled to be able to accept this position at such a prestigious institution like StFX. I have heard nothing but great things about the staff, students and town of Antigonish and cannot wait to get on campus and get things rolling."

"University sport is something I am extremely passionate about, having been involved both as an athlete and as a coach. I hope to take the strength & conditioning program at StFX to another level and help continue its tradition of academic and athletic excellence."

"Being where I am at in my career at such a young age would not have been possible without the guidance and support from my family and mentors at Acadia. I cannot thank them enough for how they have shaped me as a coach, but most of all as a person."

Crouse officially begins his full-time head strength & conditioning coaching position with StFX Athletics on July 9th.
