Diane Ouimet joins StFX Athletics staff as new assistant athletic therapist

ANTIGONISH, NS ­– StFX Manager of Varsity Athletics Krista McKenna is pleased to welcome Diane Ouimet to the StFX Athletics staff as the new assistant athletic therapist.

Ouimet will be working alongside head athletic therapist Tara Sutherland who is very happy to have Diane join the therapy staff, commenting "She brings a vast level of experience with her and we look forward to another great sports year. I am extremely confident she will fit in well with our 'team behind the teams'."    

Ouimet, a native of Ottawa and currently living in New Glasgow, N.S., has been practicing athletic therapy for the past ten years, most recently as the athletic therapist/massage therapist with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. She has worked nine seasons in the QMJHL, also spending six years with Halifax and another three years with the Shawinigin Cataractes. For the past four years she has been involved with Hockey Canada's national team program, having been both assistant and lead therapist at national level training camps, and as the head athletic therapist for the national development team in 2015.

Ouimet represented Hockey Canada as the mentor athletic therapist at the IIHF U18 women's camp in Vierumaki, Finland last July and she has extensive clinical experience, having worked part-time for the past six years in a sports clinic in Halifax. A graduate of Concordia University, she was a former varsity soccer athlete and is looking forward to the new role at StFX commenting, "It is exciting to be joining such an accomplished Athletics staff, and I look very forward to working with all the athletes, staff, and student-therapists at StFX." Ouimet officially starts her employment with StFX Athletics in early August.
