X-Men Basketball guard Avan Nava was named STFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 29, 2023. Avan, a fourth year Arts student from Mississauga, Ont. played a big role in the X-Men’s 91-73 win over SMU in Halifax Saturday night, stepping in with full-time point guard responsibilities and playing 35 minutes. He scored 13 points (including a trio of three-pointers), along with two rebounds, four assists and a steal as the X-Men improved to 13-3 atop the AUS standings. Avan is currently averaging 11.7 points per game this season.
