X-Men hockey goaltender Chase Marchand was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 25, 2018. Chase, a second year Arts student from Halifax, NS showed why he was named the AUS conference most valuable player this past week in leading the X-Men though their first 3 playoff games. In Thursday’s 4-2 loss to Acadia, he made 31 saves and was named player of the game. He followed up with a 3-0 shutout win with 23 saves in Game 2 of the AUS semifinal series, then in Game 3 on Sunday, he received another player of the game nod in a close 1-0 loss where he posted 38 saves in the game. The conference leader in a save percentage (.924) and win percentage (.762), he was also named an AUS first team all-star.
