X-Women track & field thrower Ellen Murphy was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 26, 2017. Ellen, a fifth year Arts student (4th year eligibility) from Augustine Cove, PEI was crowned AUS champion in the weight throw event at the AUS Championship this past weekend in Moncton. Her throw of 14.18m was tops in a field of 18 competitors and also broke her own StFX record of 13.70 set in 2014. In addition to her gold medal in the weight throw, Ellen also placed fourth in the shot put, just missing the podium, with a throw of 11.04m. She will advance to the U SPORTS national championship in Edmonton March 9-12.
