X-Men hockey goaltender Chase Marchand was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 18, 2018. Chase, a 2nd year Arts student from Halifax, NS was named the U SPORTS Goaltender of the Year this week, in addition to being honoured as a U SPORTS 1st team All-Canadian. He backstopped the X-Men to a silver medal at the national championship. In the 6-2 quarterfinal win over Brock he posted 23 saves, followed up with an impressive 42 save performance in a 5-4 overtime win in the semifinals over UNB. In the gold medal game Chase received player of the game honours with 23 saves in a tough 4-2 loss to Alberta.
