X-Women hockey goaltender Ariana Orasanin was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 12, 2017. Ariana, a fourth year Aquatic Resources student (3rd year eligibility) from Ancaster, Ont. had 51 saves in Game 3 of the AUS championship final. The X-Women lost the close game to SMU 3-2 in triple overtime as Orasanin made many key saves to keep them in the game, playing a total of 97:17 minutes. With a 5-3 AUS playoff record and a .918 save percentage, she helped her team secure a berth in the upcoming U SPORTS national championship as the AUS finalists.
