X-Men hockey forward Matt Needham was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 6, 2017. Matt, a first year Business student from Penticton, BC scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the X-Men’s 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Acadia in Game 3 of the AUS semifinals. The victory clinched the series 3-0 for the X-Men, sending them to the AUS championship series. Matt was also the Bell Fibe TV1 player of the game in the win. He currently has one goal and two assists in the AUS playoffs this year. He wrapped up the regular season with 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in his rookie campaign.
