X-Women soccer winger Mary MacDonald was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 7, 2014. Mary, a second year Nursing student (third year eligibility) from Kingston, ON scored key goals in each X-Women game this past weekend to contribute to two wins and a 2-0 start to the AUS season. In Saturday’s 4-0 shutout over Saint Mary’s, Mary scored the first goal of the game early in the 45th minute to kickstart a four-goal second half. She also assisted on the X-Women’s third goal of the game. In Sunday’s 2-1 victory at Mount Allison, she again scored the first goal of the game, less than a minute after the Mounties opened the scoring which helped with the X-Women’s come-from-behind victory.
