X-Women basketball guard Vanessa Pickard was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 5, 2014. Vanessa, a third year Human Kinetics student from Riverview, NB was named the Tournament MVP at the MSVU Invitational as the X-Women claimed the tournament title with a 3-0 record. In Saturday’s 82-40 win over MSVU she was the player of the game, scoring 17 points, then received another player of the game honor in StFX’s 74-39 win over Lakeland College. In that game she scored a game-high 24 points and also had 3 rebounds and 3 assists. In the 60-45 win over UPEI in the championship game, Vanessa scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
