X-Women basketball guard Vanessa Pickard was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 1, 2013. Vanessa, a third year Human Kinetics student from Riverview, NB played two solid games for the X-Women this past week earning two key four-point victories. In their 74-61 win over Acadia, Vanessa scored 18 points and had 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal as she was named player of the game. In Saturday’s 80-62 win over UPEI she scored another 18 points and contributed 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. She is currently 5th overall in AUS scoring, averaging 15.3 ppg and is 4th in conference assists, averaging 3.5 ast/game.
